Lieberman shows why McCain = Third Term of Stupid

by Kagro X [courtesy of Daily Kos]

Why did eight years of Republican rule destroy American credibility in foreign policy?

Because Republican leaders govern as though they were children.

And why was Joe Lieberman rejected by Connecticut's Democrats?

Because he governs like a Republican.

Observe:

When anecdotal evidence favors his position (i.e., one guy in Hamas says
he would welcome Obama's election), Lieberman sells it:

But the fact that the spokesperson for Hamas would say they would welcome the election of Senator Obama really does raise the question, "Why?"

And it suggests the difference between these two candidates.

But when anecdotal evidence doesn't favor his position (i.e., CNN hears
Iraqis hate Republicans), Lieberman dismisses it:

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN: I just returned from Baghdad, and what was interesting to me, I sat down with dozens of Iraqi soldiers and dozens of students at Baghdad University, and Senator, they said to me, "We don't want to see a Republican president." Matter of fact, out of every single one that I talked to, one person said they supported John McCain.

They said, "We're living a Republican war. Look at this. It's a disaster! We want to see a Democrat for president." What does John McCain say to the future of Iraq, when we're talking about Iraqi soldiers and Baghdad University students? They're the ones living this.

JOE LIEBERMAN: Well, I'm real surprised to hear that, um, because...

PHILLIPS: I was too!

[Crosstalk]

PHILLIPS: It was very interesting. They were very blunt, and very straightforward.

It was only a matter of time, really. If you ever doubted that Joe Lieberman would be using what's left of his "Independent Democrat" credentials...

Clinton going on Bill O'Reilly

by kos [courtesy of Daily Kos]

So Hillary Clinton will go on Bill O'Reilly's show on Wednesday.

But it's good! Because Obama supporters told me that going on right-wing propaganda outlets is a great idea, joining such luminaries as Lanny Davis, Joe Lieberman, Dan Gerstein, and Harold Ford.

Lieberman knew

by kos [courtesy of Daily Kos]

As you'll recall, the Lieberman campaign hosted their website on a cheapy hosting account, probably paying in the tens of dollars per month for the service. When their website crashed due to heavy usage on Primary Day, they accused the Lamont campaign or his supporters of "hacking" his website.

We knew immediately why his site had gone down -- his shitty hosting account -- but Joe Lieberman, in full sanctimony, demanded an investigation into the website failure, forcing tax payers to fund civil and criminal investigations into the mater.

We already know that the US Attorney knew before the November elections that the charges were bogus, yet refused to reveal the information. We also know that Connecticut Attorney General Dick Blumenthal claims the Feds didn't update him on their investigation, hence he was unable to let the public know about Lieberman's bogus politically-charged accusations.

However, the reality is that the Feds DID tell Lieberman and Blumenthal about the results.

Thomas Carson, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney, said in a statement that the office updated the Lieberman campaign and Blumenthal on the investigation in late October 2006.

"In accordance with our usual practice . . . the Lieberman campaign, as the alleged victim, and the office of attorney general, which had been conducting a contemporaneous investigation . . . were provided with limited information," Carson said. "The investigation was administratively closed several weeks later."

Tom Swan, Lamont's former campaign manager, said Carson's response is alarming.

"They acknowledge letting the Lieberman campaign know and never letting anybody from the Lamont (campaign) know," Swan said.

Musings Over Morning Coffee

by DemFromCT [courtesy of Daily Kos]

Kos will have a Pennsylvania prediction thread later this morning, but since I come from a state that's already voted,I will spare you the arrogance of demanding the primary be over already (that will come after the votes are counted).

I still find myself firmly in the camp of "Democratic voting? Good!" as thousands of new voters get motivated to register Democratic, turning states ever bluer. I see the lazy media dragging out their "Democratic fratricide" and "unnamed Democratic officials worry about primary" themes and stories. But having been around for a while, I can tell you there's an infinite number of Democratic officials worried about something, and they are always willing to speak to the press about it. they usually live in DC, conveniently for the newspapers, and they don't know squat about what's going on outside the beltway (think George Will lecturing the country about the evils of elitism, or David Broder on the appeal of Mike Bloomberg, Joe Lieberman, and other third party centrists).

One thing seems quite evident prior to getting the vote totals: while Obama has a floor, McCain and Cinton have ceilings, and they've already hit them. This isn't just my view. Two of the sharper professional analysts have come to the same view. While noting that things can always change in the general election, check out Charlie Cook writing about Obama's chemisty:
