About Sonoma County Democracy for America
History
Like the national Democracy for America organization, Sonoma County Democracy for America (SCDFA) was inspired by the "people-powered" presidential campaign and progressive values of Gov. Howard Dean. In 2005, SCDFA formally organized as a non-partisan political action committee and ratified bylaws.
Mission Statement
The big mission of SCDFA is to develop and sustain a grassroots network to promote and support progressive values at all levels of politics.
What SCDFA is Doing
In keeping with its mission, SCDFA provides progressives of all political affiliations with an opportunity to connect, learn, and act through its membership events and strategic partnerships with other progressive organizations. SCDFA also sponsors forums and evaluates political candidates and ballot initiatives to assist the voting public in making true progressive choices.
Recruiting, sponsoring and endorsing socially progressive and fiscally responsible candidates at all levels of public office, from school board to president of the United States, is one of the organization's primary activities. In conjunction with the national Democracy for America organization, SCDFA provides activism training for candidates and progressive grassroots activists.
